I’m heading down to Chicago this weekend and my sister is looking into buying a new car there. It needs to be AWD, practical, reliable, and autotragic. I’m looking into a Subaru Impreza, but what are you suggestions? And what Chicago area dealers can any chi-town Oppos recommend?
I was thinking of an Subaru because of the superiority of the AWD system vs the simplistic AWD system of Toyota.

New Impreza’s are solid cars. Basic, will keep her safe in a crash, decent mileage. And even with the CVT, fun to drive.

Evo X MR?
Just kidding. Though it would be hilarious to cross shop a base impreza with an evo. Would blow your sister’s mind.

AWD is the biggest myth. Unless you are on a welsh rally stage, driving on the ragged edge. 2wd with snow tires will do fine.
All I could think of is a 2016 911 Carrera 4(S). AWD, practical, reliable, and the best automatic transmission on the road.

My family just got a Forester from Napleton Subaru and they gave them a great deal on it. It’s the middle trim and they threw in a bunch of the small stuff like wheel locks and cargo tray and stuff for free. About $24,000 when all said and done, but I think they were hoping they’d go for the extra stuff (paint protection, extra warranty, etc)

X2 for Napleton. Good people over there.

Well the budget is nowhere near a Carrera 4S and nice all seasons will be installed. No space in her apartment for storing snow tires

There is no such thing as “good” all seasons, there is only 3 season. Surly there are people that can store the non-winters for her.

The new redesigned 2017 Impreza is getting revealed Tuesday, so deals should really start coming soon after its unveiled. Overall it is a super solid car with great safety, reliability, and fuel economy scores.

Even if it was a 20k Evo X MR brand new with zero miles in a Chicago Mitsubishi dealer, my parents wouldn’t consider it (they’re paying) due to the fact our last Mitsubishi (Montero Sport with a stick yo) had a transmission randomly fail, have overheating issues, and weird shit happen. And this was bought new and only driven 107k before killed.

If I can persuade my parents that driving 1hr 20 min from Chicago is fine, that’ll be my first.

What area of Chicago? I’d not look in the loop, can’t test drive much there.
Evanston subaru was really nice and low pressure when I went.
Also why does it have to be awd? I did feel like the legacy was the nicest interior but lacked power. I'd at least test drive a 1.5 eco boost fusion.

Everyone in the modding community likes Grand Subaru, they have a great service department and a good reputation for very fair sales.
I personally bought my WRX from Mueller in Highland Park and while the price wasn’t the lowest the buying experience was great.

We’ve gotten 3 of our last 4 cars from Audi Exchange and I’d highly recommend them but it doesn’t sound like she’s in the market for an Audi?
I’ve heard good things about Evanston Subaru. Also had nice experiences myself with occasionally ogling cars at Autobarn Nissan, also in Evanston, if there’s anything there that interests you guys.

OK, evanston is north side, so may not be where you’re going to be at really.
